Once sighted in at 20 yds using the turrets, then tweeted using the speed adjustment at 60 yds, you’re good to go from 20-100 yds, until change the arrow weight which I’m doing for my elk trip. The green and red illumination and easy to see reticle are very nice. The trigger is noticeably quick, no long pull. With the 80% let off the rope pull is no problem and I’m 67 yrs old with a bad back! I use the crank when target shooting and the rope when hunting. I have the crank cocker and find it easy to use but not at all necessary. I often shoot off a tri-leg stick and really like the way it all fits and mounts. The ability to adjust length of pull and height of cheek fit was very handy in lining my eye up with the scope. I find it to be well balanced not front heavy. I’m taking it elk hunting in October 2020. I’m a new owner as I purchased my xr-1 new, in early 2019 and killed my deer with it in that Fall. Thanks a lot to everyone who takes the time to answer, it's appreciated! If it's the price to pay for something super reliable, I don't mind at all quite the opposite, if I'm paying a brand name or something, meh. It doens't have any fancy feature which I kinda like, but one culd also argue that for such a "basic" crossbow it's overpriced. The customer service single handedly removed Ravin from my list of potential buys because of what I read here. That's a very important point for me when investing $1k+ on basically anything, I want to feel like the company will stand behind me if I have an issue. I'm not a huge crank fine, I find the good old elbow grease cocking super satisfying + deadlifts are good for your health!Īny issue with the whole stirrup in the riser thing?Īs it's pretty unconventional I have to ask if it has lead to any issue for anyone. It's a bit on the chunky side but it's so compact I'm not sure it's a problem. It looks sturdy, no fancy feature that add potential failure points, which is what I want, but compared to say a high-end Ten point, is this bow less or more reliable in your opinion? What can I expect reliability wise from this crossbow? So I'm getting into crossbow shooting and while I'm not quite sure I'll invest the $ for a Sub-1 XR right away I'd still like to ask you guys a few questions so I can at the very least plan a potential upgrade path from my first, cheaper bow.
